Most importantly working with Steve allowed me to do my job. Working as a Doctor alongside Steve in some remote and harsh environments I felt so confident in his expertise, leadership, and support, it allowed me to perform to the best in mine. His passion and focus within the field of adventure is inspirational and I look forward to seeing him stretch the boundaries of himself and others in the near future.
— Chris Hayley, Expedition Doctor
I was lucky enough to have Steve as Race Director on the Namibia 2010 Ultra-Marathon, a 126Km race across the Namib desert in less than 24 hours. He is a consummate professional, a great motivator and leader. Steve showed an ability to cope with a dynamic and changing situation in one of the worlds most hostile environments as comfortably as if he was at home in the UK. Steve inspires confidence and positivity.
— Jamile Sidiqqui, Ultra Runner
I have worked with Steve for over 5 years and he is a highly professional and incredibly reliable person to have on your team. He never panics in a crisis, he has a great understanding about how to get the best out of people and he is a pleasure to work with. When I am leading expeditions I am always confident with the knowledge that Steve is there to provide all the support I need, in whatever shape or form it is.

Working with Steve is inspiring, you should try it sometime.

The Leadership Challenge

A leadership role can present with many challenges. Leadership brings change on a personal and organisational level and change is often uncomfortable for most people.  We use Functional imagery Training and practical tools from the latest research on change management and motivation to help you and your organisation in the tricky moments of reaching for your goals.

Unruly Minds draws on vital lessons learnt during two specific leadership experiences.

Firstly, in leading diverse staff teams and inexperienced groups through physically challenging and high risk events in some of the harshest environments on the planet (arctic, desert and altitude).

Secondly, by leading on Social, Emotional and Mental health provision across all primary schools in a local authority, working with teachers, school leadership, along with multi-agency professional teams in health and social care, to meet the needs of pupils and manage behaviour. All whilst attempting to navigate education and mental health systems straining under current socioeconomic pressures.

The common theme that weaves it's way through these challenging experiences is that of heightened emotions and dysregulated states caused by stressful events and high pressure environments.

It is our emotions that drive our behaviours both good and bad. It is our emotions that can either drive us away or towards our personal/organisational goals.
